Trans Atlantic Mail Service

Pan American Airways inaugurated FAM 18 airmail service to Europe on May 24, 1939. The Boeing 314 Yankee Clipper required a 12-man flight crew for the 26 1/2-hour flight. When Pan Am resumed transatlantic service after the war, its flying boats were replaced by land-based aircraft.
